Hate and Extremist Groups

Hate and extremist groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.

Hate and extremist group activities can include criminal acts, marches, rallies, speeches, meetings, leafleting or publishing.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (www.splcenter.org) shows more than 1,020 hate groups operating in the United States as of 2018.
