Survival and safety tips for Officers

  • Watch out for colors, indicators, weapons, signs, and tank art before making any contact.
  • Develop reasonable articulable suspicion or a reason or cause.
  • If manpower permits it, having a backup is highly advised.
  • Adopt a professional methodology with command presence.
  • Motorcycle off, kickstand up, helmet off, and hands interlocked on the head (OMG's).
  • If a Terry Frisk is warranted, make sure that pat-down is completed thoroughly, tactically, and safely.
  • Always keep in mind the gangsters carry more than one weapon at a time.
  • Converse with someone who is assuming a leadership role. Generally, gang leaders stand in the front line.
